SUB FORUM FOOD AND BIOTECHNOLOGY – DEVELOPMENT OF SEAWEED GREEN PROCESS

The 4th ITICF (Indonesia – Taiwan Industrial Collaboration Forum) has taken place last month on October 12th  2021 at JS Luwansa Hotel – Indonesia. ITICF is a forum for the collaboration of the government and industries between two economical countries (Indonesia and Taiwan). Through this collaboration, Indonesia expected to become the production base of industries.

“At 4th ITICF, MoU was signed to strengthen the collaboration on the development of Industries,” said Eko. First MoU on “Explore Opportunity in use of Seaweeds or Their Processing-by-products in Food or Agricultural Sectors” was signed off by PT Hakiki Donarta (Indonesia), Kings Ground BioTechCo. Ltd (Taiwan) and the Food Industry Research and Development Institute (FIRDI) Taiwan.

During the conference, participants such as private sectors, associations, academics from Indonesia and Taiwan joined as representatives of various sectors through sub forum. Each sub forum will discuss various topics ands issues that are relevant to the current conditions and jointly seek solutions for the future.

One of topics discussion is Development of Seaweed Green Process in Indonesia (using Enzymatic of Hydrocolloid Seaweed-based Process). This is collaboration between the Center of Agro-Based Industry (CABI), PT Kappa Carrageenan Nusantara, and FIRDI. The implementation of Seaweed research collaboration Green Process aims to reduce the use of chemical base materials. Technology extraction using enzymes can result in higher production, and the production process will be stabilized.
